Hockey After High School - Asher Vander Ploeg Signed!
The West Bend Power have signed ’07 forward Asher Vander Ploeg for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
“We’re excited to have Asher in West Bend,” assistant coach Paul Graef said. “Asher is a dependable defenseman. He defends with a strong stick, closes gaps well, and competes hard in every situation. His poise, hockey IQ, and willingness to do the little things make him a player we believe will be a reliable presence on our blue line. We’re excited to help him continue his development and look forward to the impact he’ll have on our program this season.”
Vander Ploeg last played for Glenbrook South High School, where he competed on the varsity squad all four years. In his senior season, he managed 27 goals and 30 assists for 57 total points in 51 games played. He also helped lead his team to the Final Four of the ever-so-competitive Illinois High School State Championship Red Division.
Asher played two games for the Power last season in September getting his first taste of junior hockey. “I played with the Power a couple times last year and the culture and coaching is what made me decide to go back. I also love winning and we got a squad that will be doing a lot of that so if that doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what will.”
